Honda's first Crossroad was a Land Rover Discovery rebadged for Japan, sold from 1993 to 1998 and built by Rover at Solihull. Its 3.9 L Rover V8 makes 180 PS, with four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, and it is the only V8 Honda has sold. It has nothing in common with the later Crossroad.

STORY

The Crossroad name was used for two unrelated cars. On 13 October 1993 Honda announced a Land Rover Discovery-based four-wheel-drive wagon with a 3.9-litre V8 (180 PS), built at Rover's Solihull plant under a May 1993 agreement and sold from 1 November through Verno dealers. Honda was still adding a version, the V8i five-door, on 1 March 1996, so the car was on sale at least until spring 1996. Honda's own Crossroad of 2007 was a different car, a 4,285 mm seven-seat compact crossover with 1.8 and 2.0-litre i-VTEC engines, announced on 22 February 2007 and on sale from 23 February. Honda's archive lists it as sold from February 2007 to August 2010.
