HR-V 1.6 CVT

1st gen (GH) · 1998–2006FWD

In Japan the first HR-V came with a CVT, which defines this front-drive 1.6-litre version sold from 1998 to 2006. The four-cylinder petrol engine is rated at 105 PS and 138 N m. Manual cars with the same engine were sold in other markets, so this is the automatic choice of the early compact crossover.

STORY

The Honda HR-V debuted in 1998 as an early compact crossover on the Logo/Civic platform, then was discontinued in 2006. The nameplate returned in 2015 with a new model derived from the Fit and sold in Japan as the Vezel, followed by a third generation in 2021. It has grown into one of Honda's key global compact SUVs.
