The Story

Why the Partner matters

The Partner was Honda's compact light commercial van for the Japanese market. The first generation, coded EY6 to EY9, was built from March 1996 on the bodywork of the Civic-based Orthia wagon, with 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6 L four-cylinder petrol engines, manual or automatic gearboxes and front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. A low-emission 1.6 L version followed in 1998, and a January 1998 update added ABS to several grades. In March 2006 a second generation, GJ3 and GJ4, replaced it on the Airwave platform, with a 1.5 L engine and an automatic gearbox. Production of that generation ended in August 2010.
