Honda launched the S-MX in Japan on 22 November 1996 as the fourth product in its Creative Mover series. It was a single-generation car, coded RH1 for front-wheel drive and RH2 for four-wheel drive, and it shared its engine with the CR-V and StepWGN. All versions used the 2.0-litre B20B four-cylinder with a four-speed automatic. The Lowdown variant sat 15 mm lower and added spoilers and side skirts. A September 1999 update raised power from 130 to 140 PS, and a Custom Basic version arrived in late 2000. Production ended in 2002, and the Mobilio Spike took its place.
A compact boxy minivan sold by Honda in Japan from 1996 to 2002, known for its low, sporty stance and front bench seat. It used a 2.0-litre B20B four-cylinder with a four-speed automatic, in front-drive or four-wheel-drive form.
