The H5 was Hongqi's entry sedan of the late 2010s, aimed at private and corporate buyers. The first version, shown in 2017, was based on the Mazda6 Atenza platform built by the FAW-Mazda joint venture, with FAW's own turbocharged 1.8-liter engine. It had a formal Hongqi body with the marque's vertical-strake grille. A restyled second-generation car was unveiled in 2022 with 1.5T, 2.0T and hybrid versions.
The H5 is Hongqi's compact-to-midsize executive sedan, shown in 2017. It is built on a platform with roots shared with the Mazda6, and offers turbocharged gasoline engines and, in the second generation, a hybrid version. Its conservative, chrome-heavy styling brings Hongqi's luxury cues to a mainstream price. The H5 is an accessible entry to the Red Flag range for private and government buyers alike.
