The Bayon is the small crossover Hyundai developed for Europe, built on the mechanical basis of the third-generation i20. It was revealed in March 2021, and production began at the Hyundai Assan plant in Izmit, Turkey, with a press release dated 22 June 2021. The name refers to Bayonne in the French Basque Country. At launch the engines were a 1.2-litre four-cylinder of 84 PS and a 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder of 100 PS or, with 48-volt mild hybrid, 120 PS, with manual or seven-speed dual-clutch gearboxes. A facelift followed in January 2024.
