STORY
The Equus first appeared in 1999 as Hyundai's flagship sedan, in a partnership with Mitsubishi, joining the Dynasty at the top of the range. The second generation was announced for the US at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours and made its North American show debut in New York in April 2010. It went on sale in late summer 2010 as a 2011 model on a stretched Genesis platform, about 7.2 inches longer than the Genesis, with a 4.6-litre V8 rated at 385 hp on premium fuel and 378 hp on regular. For 2012 a 5.0-litre V8 with 429 hp and an eight-speed automatic replaced it. The Equus was dropped after the 2016 model year, with the Genesis G90 as its successor.
