STORY

Matrix is the export name of the small MPV that Hyundai sold in Korea as the Lavita, with sales beginning in August 2001. Pininfarina styled it under Lorenzo Ramaciotti, and mechanically it was related to the Elantra (XD). Europe got the Matrix badge, Australia the Elantra LaVita. A first update came in 2005, and a second update was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008. Production ran in Ulsan, South Korea, from 2001 to 2007 and then at Hyundai Assan in Izmit, Turkey, from 2007 to 2010. The ix20 took over at the end of 2010.
