STORY

The Pony was Hyundai's first mass-produced car and South Korea's first mass-produced and exported car, launched in 1975. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and engineered with technical help from Mitsubishi, the rear-wheel-drive hatchback became a major export success and helped establish Hyundai as a carmaker. It was produced through 1990 and became a lasting symbol of Korea's emerging auto industry.
