STORY

Santa Cruz started as a concept shown at the 2015 Detroit auto show. In November 2019 Hyundai said the production version would be built at its Montgomery, Alabama plant starting in 2021, and the 2022 model-year truck debuted in April 2021. Hyundai calls it a Sport Adventure Vehicle rather than a pickup. In the US the 2022 car came with a 191 hp 2.5-litre four or a 281 hp turbocharged 2.5. A facelifted 2025 model was shown at the 2024 New York auto show with a new grille, two 12.3-inch screens and physical climate controls back.
