QX50

J55 (QX50) · 2018–2025AWD

The QX50 is a compact luxury crossover that began as the renamed EX in 2013 before a fully redesigned front-wheel-drive-based generation arrived for 2019. That second generation introduced the VC-Turbo variable-compression engine, a production-first technology that adjusts compression ratio on the fly. It became one of Infiniti's higher-volume models.

STORY

Launched in 2008 as the EX, Infiniti's compact luxury crossover shared its FM platform with the G-series sedan, giving it rear/all-wheel-drive underpinnings and V6 power. It was renamed QX50 in 2014 under Infiniti's alphanumeric scheme. A second generation arrived in 2019 on a new front-wheel-drive-based platform, debuting the world's first production variable-compression VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine.
