The 117 Coupé was a sleek grand tourer styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his time at Carrozzeria Ghia. Its flowing lines made it one of the most admired Japanese cars of its era. Introduced in 1968, early cars were hand-finished in low volumes, and a switch to mass production in 1973 simplified the detailing. It was the first Isuzu to use the twin-cam G-series engine and, later, electronic fuel injection and a diesel option. These helped build Isuzu's engineering credibility in the passenger-car market.
A grand-touring coupe designed by Giugiaro, and an important example of Japanese design of the 1960s-70s.
