STORY

The Cherokee name debuted in 1974 but became famous with the 1984 XJ, one of the first modern unibody SUVs and a template for the crossover era. After the XJ ended in 2001, the nameplate returned as the KL in 2014 and came back again with a new hybrid model for 2026. It has covered body-on-frame, unibody and modern crossover eras.
