Karma Automotive unveiled the Amaris in Irvine, California, on 20 March 2025 as its first two-door production coupe. It is an extended-range electric car: the wheels are driven by electric motors, and a turbocharged gasoline engine acts only as a generator for the battery. The body is made of carbon fiber and aluminum and rides on 22-inch forged aluminum wheels. Karma showed the full car and its two-seat interior at Monterey Car Week in August 2025.
At that time Karma quoted 708 hp, 676 lb-ft of torque, a 41.5 kWh battery, more than 100 miles of electric range and more than 400 miles of combined range. It also gave 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 165 mph, a price of about $200,000 and production from the fourth quarter of 2026. In August 2026 Karma showed the car again as the 2028 Amaris GT, described it as a more powerful evolution of its hybrid system, and moved its arrival to the fourth quarter of 2027. Pricing and updated figures had not been announced.
