STORY

Credos was Kia's mid-size sedan, going on sale in South Korea in 1995. It sits on the Mazda 626 (Capella) platform first seen in 1991, and Europe knew it as the Clarus. Kia added a facelifted version in May 1998, the year it also reached Australia as the Credos, where it was offered only with the 2.0-litre engine. That engine is rated at 133 PS (98 kW). The Hyundai-sourced Optima, sold abroad as the Magentis, took over from September 2000. The Credos and Clarus names describe the same car.
