STORY

The Pride was the small Kia hatchback that began production in 1987, from the Ford Festiva design, which Mazda had engineered. Kia describes a three-nation project in which Kia built the car, Mazda designed it and Ford sold it, and says it was first exported to the United States in 1987 as the Festiva. Kia dates the end of the original run to 1999, while some other sources give 2000. In South Korea the name returned in 2005 as the New Pride, the car sold abroad as the Rio, and again in 2011 as the All-New Pride, also the Rio abroad.
