STORY

The Retona was a small body-on-frame four-wheel-drive SUV that Asia Motors developed as the successor to its Rocsta, and Kia sold it from 1998. Kia lists a 1,998 cc four-cylinder in petrol and diesel versions, and the first sale is put at 8 June 1998. Kia's heritage archive describes it as built on a military-grade platform. The petrol model was dropped at the facelift of 2000, which created the Retona Cruiser, and the line ended in 2003 because it could not meet emissions rules.
