STORY

The Stonic is Kia's small crossover for Europe. Kia announced it in June 2017 as a Frankfurt motor show debut, and it is built at the Sohari plant in Korea. Spanish sales were set for September 2017, with a 1.0 T-GDI turbo petrol at 120 PS and a 1.6 CRDi diesel at 110 PS among the launch engines. A September 2020 update, sold in Germany as the 2021 model year, made the 1.0 T-GDI 120 PS (88 kW) a 48 V mild hybrid and gave its 7-speed dual-clutch version 200 Nm. The facelift shown in September 2025 keeps the 1.0-litre three-cylinder at 100 PS, or 115 PS as a mild hybrid, and adds two 12.3-inch screens.
