STORY
The Gemera, revealed in 2020, is Koenigsegg's first four-seat car, a "Mega-GT" designed to carry four adults and their luggage while retaining hypercar performance. Its name combines the Swedish "ge" (to give) and "mera" (more), reflecting the goal of offering more usability without sacrificing capability.
At launch its most talked-about feature was the powertrain: the "Tiny Friendly Giant" (TFG), a compact 2.0-litre twin-turbo three-cylinder using Koenigsegg's camless Freevalve technology to produce around 600 PS on its own, output normally associated with a much larger V8. Combined with three electric motors, the original hybrid system was rated at over 1,700 hp. Koenigsegg later added a twin-turbo V8 option, and by 2024 reported that so few customers had chosen the three-cylinder that the TFG variant was shelved for the time being, though the engine remains under development. Either way, the Gemera showcases Koenigsegg's belief that extreme performance, four seats and everyday usability can coexist.
