The Lambda was introduced in 1922 and is usually described as the first production car with a load-bearing monocoque body, which had no separate chassis. Its front suspension was independent, with sliding pillars and coil springs. The engine was a narrow-angle V4 with a single overhead camshaft. Through nine series the engine was enlarged, and production ended in 1931.
Introduced in 1922, the Lancia Lambda was a landmark car that pioneered a load-bearing monocoque body and independent front suspension in a production vehicle. Its narrow-angle V4 engine and low centre of gravity made it remarkably advanced for its era. Many thousands were built across nine series through 1931.
