STORY

The Town Car was Lincoln's full-size, body-on-frame luxury sedan and long a symbol of traditional American luxury, favored for livery and limousine service. The third and final generation arrived for 1998 on Ford's Panther platform, with a rear-drive V8, a very large cabin and a soft, isolated ride. Long-wheelbase and stretched livery versions were common in executive fleets. Production ended in 2011 when Ford closed its St. Thomas assembly plant, which ended the classic full-frame Lincoln sedan.
