STORY

The Lotus Elan, introduced in 1962, was a lightweight two-seat roadster built on a steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass body and a Lotus twin-cam engine, becoming an influential benchmark for handling. It evolved through Series 1 to 4 and a fixed-head coupe during the 1960s and early 1970s. The name was revived in 1989 with the front-wheel-drive M100 Elan, a modern turbocharged roadster produced into the mid-1990s.
