Indy 4.7

Indy · 1970–1975

For 1970 Maserati enlarged the Indy's V8 to 4719 cc, giving the front-engined 2+2 more torque within its Vignale fastback body. The car kept the steel monocoque and five-speed ZF transmission of the 4.2, feeding power to the rear wheels. Around 1100 Indys of all types left Modena before production ended in 1975.

STORY

The Maserati Indy was a 2+2 grand tourer produced from 1969 to 1975, styled by Vignale and named to celebrate Maserati's two victories at the Indianapolis 500. It used Maserati's quad-cam V8 in 4.2, 4.7 and later 4.9-litre forms mounted at the front. Around 1,100 examples were built over its run.
