The MCL-HY is McLaren's entry in the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class from 2027, built to ACO/IMSA LMDh rules on a Dallara carbon-fibre chassis. It has a 2.9 L twin-turbo V6 with a hybrid unit sending up to 520 kW (707 PS) to the rear axle, with a minimum weight of 1,030 kg. Track testing began in May 2026.
It marks McLaren's return to sports-car endurance racing. The company won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans with the McLaren F1 GTR and had earlier dominated Can-Am in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The test livery references the M6A, and McLaren links the project to Bruce McLaren's M6GT Le Mans ambitions.
A track-only version without the hybrid, the MCL-HY GTR, is offered to select clients with deliveries from the end of 2027.
