STORY

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) came out in 2018 as a four-door performance car. It was separate from the CLS and shared its name and design language with the two-seat AMG GT sports car. It is built on the MRA platform with standard 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The range was wide: from the inline-six GT 43 and GT 53 EQ Boost mild hybrids to the twin-turbo V8 GT 63 and the 639 PS GT 63 S. The GT 63 S E Performance, a plug-in hybrid with 843 PS, was revealed in 2021. It was positioned as a rival to the Porsche Panamera and Audi RS7. In May 2026 an all-electric successor on the AMG.EA platform was unveiled, with the GT 63 and GT 55 first and the GT 53 following in August 2026.
