STORY

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) arrived in 2018 as AMG's first bespoke four-door performance car, distinct from the CLS and sharing its name and design language with the two-seat AMG GT sports car. Built on the MRA platform with standard 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, it spanned a broad range from the inline-six GT 43 and GT 53 EQ Boost mild hybrids to the twin-turbo V8 GT 63 and 639-horsepower GT 63 S. From 2021 it gained the GT 63 S E Performance, a plug-in hybrid producing 831 horsepower that ranked among the most powerful AMG road cars ever built. Positioned as a rival to the Porsche Panamera and Audi RS7, it served as AMG's technological flagship sedan and a showcase for its electrified performance direction. It remains in production as the halo of AMG's four-door lineup.
