STORY

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is a customer racing car built to FIA GT3 regulations, introduced in 2015-2016 as the successor to the SLS AMG GT3. Derived from the AMG GT road car's body but campaigned with the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre M159 V8 rather than the street car's twin-turbo 4.0-litre, it became one of the most successful and widely raced GT3 platforms of its era. It scored major overall victories including the Spa 24 Hours, the Nürburgring 24 Hours and the Bathurst 12 Hour, and formed the backbone of Mercedes-AMG's global customer-racing program. An extensively revised Evo version arrived for 2020 with updated aerodynamics, cooling and electronics to keep pace with balance-of-performance rivals. The GT3 remains a cornerstone of AMG's motorsport identity and a fixture of endurance and sprint GT championships worldwide.
