STORY
The Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class was a three-door compact sports coupé built from 2008 to 2011. It was a heavily revised continuation of the earlier C-Class Sport Coupé (CL203), introduced in 2001. It was not an all-new car: the CLC kept the Sport Coupé's fastback hatchback body and W203 underpinnings, with new front and rear styling, an updated interior and a refreshed engine range. The engines ran from the supercharged four-cylinder CLC 180 and 200 Kompressor up to the CLC 350 V6. It was the entry-level Mercedes coupé, positioned below the CLK and aimed at younger buyers, and was assembled in Bremen and later in Brazil. The model was discontinued in 2011 without a direct replacement; its role passed to the new W204-based C-Class Coupé. In the brand's coupé history it remains a transitional model.
