STORY
Launched in 2019, the GLB sits between the GLA and GLC as the boxy, upright compact SUV from Mercedes-Benz. It is built on the front-wheel-drive MFA2 architecture shared with the A-Class and GLA. Its main trait is a practicality that is unusual for the segment: G-Class-inspired styling around an optional third row of seats, which makes it one of the few genuinely seven-seat premium compacts. The range ran from the four-cylinder GLB 200 and GLB 250 4MATIC up to the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC with roughly 306 PS. The all-electric EQB uses the same body. A 2023 facelift updated the grille, lighting and MBUX infotainment. It remains a core seller in the Mercedes compact line-up and is valued for combining a small footprint with real family space.
