STORY
Launched in 2019, the GLB slotted between the GLA and GLC as Mercedes-Benz's boxy, upright compact SUV, built on the front-wheel-drive MFA2 architecture shared with the A-Class and GLA. Its defining trait was practicality unusual for the segment: G-Class-inspired styling wrapped around an optional third row, making it one of the few genuinely seven-seat premium compacts. The range spanned four-cylinder GLB 200 and GLB 250 4MATIC models up to the roughly 306 hp Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC, while the all-electric EQB shared the same body. A 2023 facelift updated the grille, lighting and MBUX infotainment. It remains a core seller in Mercedes' compact line-up, prized for combining a small footprint with real family space.
