STORY
The GLC is the SUV that most Mercedes-Benz buyers now choose: a compact, C-Class-based crossover at the centre of the modern volume range. It replaced the boxier GLK in 2015, with curvier styling and the unified "GL + class" naming that links it to the C-Class below it.
Its timing was good. As buyers worldwide moved from saloons to higher-riding crossovers, the GLC gave them what they wanted: the comfort, technology and badge of a C-Class in a more practical, higher body, with plug-in hybrid and all-wheel drive as options. It quickly became one of Mercedes' best-selling models worldwide.
There is also an AMG GLC 63 for those who want a family SUV that can outrun sports cars. Unglamorous but very important, the GLC shows where the market and Mercedes' business have moved.
