Mercedes held a digital world premiere for the EQE SUV on 16 October 2022 and introduced the AMG version at the same event, so the performance model was not a later addition. The AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ SUV used two motors for 460 kW, or 505 kW and 1,000 Nm with the AMG Dynamic Plus package, and came with AMG air suspension, rear-axle steering and AMG roll stabilisation as standard. The X294 was assembled at the Tuscaloosa plant in Alabama, where Mercedes had begun building electric SUVs in August 2022 with the EQS SUV, and the EQE SUV reached United States dealers in spring 2023 from 77,900 dollars. Mercedes has since dropped the EQ sub-brand from model names, badging later electric cars as models with EQ Technology instead.
