STORY
The T-Class arrived in 2022 as Mercedes-Benz's passenger-focused small van, a more premium sibling to the Citan and, like it, built on the third-generation Renault Kangoo's CMF-CD platform through the Mercedes-Renault alliance. Conceived as a family-oriented 'leisure activity vehicle' for active urban buyers, it launched as a five-seater with a longer seven-seat version planned, powered by turbocharged four-cylinder petrol (T 160, T 180) and diesel (T 180 d) engines. A fully electric EQT joined to broaden its appeal. Positioned below the larger Vito-based V-Class, it gave Mercedes a foothold in the compact leisure-van niche. In 2025 the company announced that the T-Class and Citan, along with their electric versions, would be discontinued in 2026, making it a short-lived chapter.
