STORY

The V-Class is Mercedes-Benz's premium large multi-purpose vehicle, evolving from the Vito-based Viano to reposition the model firmly upmarket. The current W447 generation arrived in 2014, pairing van practicality and up to eight seats with car-like refinement, efficient OM651 and later OM654 diesel engines, and a 2019 update that added the 300 d flagship and a nine-speed automatic. It has become a favoured executive shuttle for airports, hotels and VIP transport, while also underpinning the Marco Polo camper conversions. An all-electric EQV sibling extended the line into zero-emission luxury transport. The V-Class remains in production as Mercedes' halo people-mover, with an electric-led successor previewed to carry the concept forward.
