STORY

The V-Class is the premium large multi-purpose vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. It developed from the Vito-based Viano, and the model was moved firmly upmarket. The current W447 generation arrived in 2014 and combines van practicality and up to eight seats with car-like refinement. It has efficient OM651 and later OM654 diesel engines. A 2019 update added the 300 d flagship and a nine-speed automatic. It has become a favoured executive shuttle for airports, hotels and VIP transport, and it is also the base for the Marco Polo camper conversions. An all-electric sibling, the EQV, extended the line to zero-emission luxury transport. The V-Class remains in production as Mercedes' top people-mover, and an electric-led successor has already been previewed.
