The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 was the first Maybach-badged SUV. It extended the sub-brand's chauffeur-grade luxury into the fast-growing ultra-premium SUV segment. It is built on the full-size GLS platform and drops the third row for a lavish four- or five-seat cabin. The rear seats recline and have ventilation and massage, and there is an available fixed centre console with folding tables, plus the two-tone paint and Manufaktur finishes that mark every Maybach.
It is Maybach's answer to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Bentley Bentayga. A 4.0-litre biturbo V8 mild hybrid drives all four wheels. Standard E-Active Body Control scans the road ahead and pre-loads the air suspension to absorb bumps. Rear passengers get a ride tuned for comfort rather than sport, which gives it its own character within the Mercedes SUV range.
