STORY
The Mercury Capri was sold in three distinct forms. In the 1970s Lincoln-Mercury dealers sold the European Capri imported from Ford of Germany. From 1979 to 1986 the Capri was a hatchback on the Fox platform, the Mercury counterpart to the third-generation Ford Mustang, with engines from a 2.3-litre turbo four to a 5.0-litre V8. The name returned for 1991 to 1994 on a front-wheel-drive convertible built in Australia on a platform shared with the Mazda 323.
