STORY

The MG Midget, launched in 1961, was a tiny, affordable roadster based on the Austin-Healey Sprite, and it brought back a name from MG's pre-war sports cars. It was light, nimble and cheap to run, and it introduced a generation of enthusiasts to open-top motoring. Engines grew from 948 cc to 1.5 litres over its long life, which ended in 1979.
