STORY

The Mini Convertible brought open-top motoring to the reborn brand. The first-generation R52, launched in 2004, was based on the R50/R53 hatch and added a soft top with a new sliding 'sunroof mode'. It included a supercharged Cooper S version.

It was re-engineered as the R57 for 2009 and again as the F57 alongside the F56 hatch in 2016. It always shared the hatch's go-kart handling and engines, up to the turbocharged John Cooper Works version. The Convertible stayed in the range where the two-seat Coupe and Roadster did not, offering the Mini's character with the roof down.
