The Delica Space Gear 2.8 TD 4WD (1994 to 2007) is the fourth-generation Delica with the long-nosed body that replaced the Star Wagon. Its 4M40 2.8-liter turbodiesel produced 125 PS at launch, later 140 PS, with part-time four-wheel drive and 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

STORY

The Delica began in 1968 as a cab-over commercial van, and the name joins delivery and car. The passenger Star Wagon of June 1986 moved to a monocoque cab-over body and offered a part-time 4WD, a system available on the Star Wagon since 1982, with a 2.5-litre turbodiesel. The Space Gear of May 1994 put the engine in a nose ahead of the cabin, borrowed Pajero 4WD hardware, added Super Select 4WD and offered a 2.8-litre diesel. In January 2007 the D:5 replaced it with electronically controlled 4WD.
