The 2000-2003 third-generation Eclipse GT (D53A) is the first V6 coupe of the D50 body. Its 3.0-litre 6G72 V6 is rated at roughly 200 hp, with front-wheel drive and a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, replacing the turbocharged four-cylinder of earlier generations.

STORY

The Mitsubishi Eclipse was a sport compact coupe built from 1989 to 2012 over four generations, developed under the Diamond-Star Motors joint venture with Chrysler. Early turbocharged AWD GSX versions became popular with tuners, while later generations shifted toward larger front-drive V6 grand-touring coupes and convertible Spyders. Production ended in 2012, though the name later returned on the unrelated Eclipse Cross crossover.
