Evolution III GSR (CE9A)

The Evolution III GSR (CE9A) ran from 1995 to 1996 on the CE-series Lancer and was the last Evo of the first body. The 4G63 turbo rose to 270 PS through a larger turbocharger, and a new aero package with a bigger rear wing separated it from the Evolution II.

STORY

Mitsubishi put the Lancer Evolution on sale in Japan in 1992 so the car could be homologated for the World Rally Championship. It carried the 2.0-litre turbo 4G63 from the Galant VR-4 and made 250 PS and 31.5 kgm, and the first batch of 2,500 sold out in about three days. The tenth generation arrived in 2007 with a new 4B11 2.0-litre turbo rated at 280 PS and 43.0 kgm in Japan. In April 2015 Mitsubishi announced the Final Edition, limited to 1,000 cars for Japan only.
