The 1600 Cyborg R is the performance model of the fourth-generation Mirage (CA series, 1991-1995). It carries the 1.6-litre 4G92 DOHC four-cylinder with MIVEC variable valve timing, rated 175 PS at 7,500 rpm, a very high output for a naturally aspirated 1.6, and was sold with a five-speed manual gearbox.

STORY

The first Mirage arrived in 1978 as Mitsubishi's first front-wheel-drive car, and the second generation followed in 1983. The name returned in 2012 on a small three-cylinder hatchback built in Thailand with a 1.2-litre engine, which made 78 hp in the United States in its last years, according to The Drive. In August 2024 Mitsubishi said the Mirage was being discontinued there with no 2025 model, and that production would end late in 2024.
