The Airtrek 2.0 is the base version of the first-generation CU-series Airtrek (sold abroad as the Outlander), here in its 2003-2006 production run. It uses the 2.0-litre 4G63 four-cylinder rated at 126 PS, with front-wheel drive or 4WD, and sits below the 240 PS Turbo-R in the Japanese range.

STORY

The Outlander PHEV went on sale in Japan on 24 January 2013. It paired a 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol engine with a 12.0 kWh battery and two 60 kW electric motors, one on each axle. European sales began in 2013, and in 2020 it sold 26,673 units across Europe, the top-selling plug-in hybrid SUV there according to JATO Dynamics. The next generation brought a 20 kWh battery, with Japanese deliveries starting in December 2021.
