The later Airtrek Turbo-R covers the 2003-2006 production of the performance version of the CU-series Airtrek. Its 2.0-litre 4G63T turbocharged four-cylinder, a detuned relative of the Lancer Evolution engine, makes 240 PS and 343 Nm through an automatic gearbox and 4WD, far above the 126 PS Airtrek 2.0.

STORY

The Outlander PHEV went on sale in Japan on 24 January 2013. It paired a 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol engine with a 12.0 kWh battery and two 60 kW electric motors, one on each axle. European sales began in 2013, and in 2020 it sold 26,673 units across Europe, the top-selling plug-in hybrid SUV there according to JATO Dynamics. The next generation brought a 20 kWh battery, with Japanese deliveries starting in December 2021.
