The Outlander PHEV for the United States and Canada arrived with the 2023 model year. Its 2.4-litre petrol engine and two electric motors together make 248 hp and about 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), with Twin Motor all-wheel drive and a 20 kWh battery that gives an EPA electric range of 38 miles.

STORY

The Outlander PHEV went on sale in Japan on 24 January 2013. It paired a 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol engine with a 12.0 kWh battery and two 60 kW electric motors, one on each axle. European sales began in 2013, and in 2020 it sold 26,673 units across Europe, the top-selling plug-in hybrid SUV there according to JATO Dynamics. The next generation brought a 20 kWh battery, with Japanese deliveries starting in December 2021.
