Space Wagon 2.4

2nd gen (N30) · 1993–1997

The Space Wagon 2.4 was the largest petrol option of the second generation, offered from 1993 to 1997 with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in place of the 2.0. The extra displacement gave stronger low-speed torque for a loaded seven-seater, and the body matched the 2.0 versions.

STORY

In Japan this minivan began as the Chariot, which went on sale in February 1983 as a front-drive passenger-car-based wagon with three rows of seats; the same car was sold in Europe as the Space Wagon. The second generation followed in Japan in 1991, while European sources date its arrival to 1992 or 1993. In October 1997 the third generation appeared as the Chariot Grandis. After that the Chariot name disappeared. The catalog groups the three cars in one entry, so the Japanese and export names should be read side by side.
