The ES6 is Nio's mid-size five-seat SUV, launched in China in December 2018 as a smaller, more affordable companion to the ES8. Built on Nio's battery-swap architecture, it uses dual motors and swappable packs of several sizes that can be exchanged at Power Swap stations. A fully redesigned second generation arrived in 2023 on the NT2.0 platform with lidar-based Aquila sensing; it is sold overseas as the EL6.
The NIO ES6 is a mid-size all-electric SUV and one of NIO's best-selling core models, first launched in China in 2018. It uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain and is fully compatible with NIO Power battery swap, offered with 75, 100 and 150 kWh packs plus the Battery-as-a-Service leasing option. Positioned as a premium yet more attainable SUV below the ES8, it balances range, performance and NIO's swap-station convenience. It competes in the crowded premium electric SUV segment.
