STORY
Nissan sold the same minivan under two names: the Presage went to Blue Stage showrooms from June 1998, and the Bassara, launched on 4 November 1999, went to the Red Stage chain of Satio, Sunny, Prince and Cherry stores with its own front and rear styling on the shared U30 floorpan. Nissan presented it as a stylish minivan seating seven or eight, with a 2.4-litre KA24DE four, a 3.0-litre VQ30DE V6 and a YD25DDTi direct-injection turbodiesel, priced from 2,318,000 to 3,108,000 yen before tax and planned at 2,500 cars a month. A revision in 2001 dropped the diesel for the 2.5-litre QR25DE. There was no second Bassara: production ended in June 2003, a month before the redesigned Presage took its place in both channels.
