STORY
Nissan made the EXA from the Pulsar. The N13 Pulsar appeared in May 1986, and on October 14 that year its coupe became a model of its own, with its own code, KEN13. One body shape carried removable parts: the T-bar roof panels lifted out, and the rear hatch came either as a coupe tail or as the wagon canopy that North America sold on its own as the Sportbak. Japanese regulations would not allow the swap at home, where coupe and Canopy counted as two vehicle types and the hinges did not interchange. Japan had one engine, the 120 PS CA16DE twin cam, while export cars got a single-cam 1.6 below it and a 1.8 twin cam late in the decade. North America bought the car as the Pulsar NX, a name used there since the 1983 model year for the N12 coupe. Sales ended in August 1990, and the B13 Nissan NX that replaced it was a different design.
